Authentic Surfboard Sales

The internet has made shopping around a pleasure. We’re now better armed than ever when it comes to choosing the right surfboard for our surfing needs. There’s so much information out there, so many sources worldwide and so many shops selling different surfboard models. Research is one thing, putting the money down is another. The speed of search, find and buy online is a double edged sword if we don’t know who we can trust. This ebay example sent in to us at Surf Merchant highlights the roadblocks faced.

“A Skip Frye Swallow Tail was advertised on ebay and I was bidding for it. It was then canceled off ebay (Aug/Sept 08) and I contacted the seller Alex directly to ask him if it was still for sale. He said it was and that I could buy it for £750.00 inc postage and delivery. He said that he would prefer to “work through ebay” and that they would contact me with details of the sale. I received an email from “e-bay” asking me to pay via MoneyGram that the “seller” could not use Paypal at the moment. I thought this suspicious even though it was very legal looking document!! Anyway I sent it on to e-bay who advised me that it was a “spoof”, and not to part with a penny. Anyway, this guy who goes by the name Alex who says he is from Durham in the UK. Be aware, do not part with your money – PLEASE BE CAREFUL”

Bottom line, respect the internet and tread with caution. Surf Merchant surfboards are payment on delivery, subject to your inspection and approval. There’s no clause & no deposit on orders made on our minimal and fish surfboards in stock. Just one less thing to worry about :)
