Shaper Tom Wegener, and a bunch of Cornish surfers can be seen here experimenting with Alaia wooden surfboards along the Irish coastline. What really pushes the envelope out is the fact that they are fin-free! It’s worth watching this 5 min. clip just to see how loose these boards become when the dynamics are altered. Goes to show how wake-skating, snowboarding and surfing can be blended into one …

An introduction to Ryan Swaner, Surf Merchant's marketing co-ordinator

Ryan Swaner has joined up with Dean Geraghty in South Africa. Hawaiian, and an avid water-goer, she is going to fit in perfectly in Cape Town. Ryan will be by Dean’s side in his day-to-day operational duties. She is also flying the flag for our marketing departments – researching the market, and liaising with suppliers and customers. She will take an active role in communicating to us at Surf Merchant the latest developments with Surf Shapes, locally and internationally. She will be blogging routinely, updating us on local news, production techniques and technological improvements, together with interviews and educationals on shaping and surfing. Welcome Ryan…
